The Bullet Farm is one of three key locations in Immortan Joe's domain, alongside the Citadel and Gastown. According to the comic book origins, while Joe was capturing the aquifer that became the Citadel, his scouts discovered an abandoned lead mine, which would eventually become the Bullet Farm. Joe put his right-hand-man Major Kalashnikov in charge of the Bullet Farm, and Kalashnikov became known as the Bullet Farmer. The Bullet Farm produces ammunition, a critical resource for Joe's War Boys and his dominance over the wasteland. In *Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga*, Joe sends the War Rig to the Bullet Farm to pick up weapons and ammunition, but Dementus ambushes the War Rig at the Bullet Farm itself, killing the crew and leaving Furiosa as the only survivor. This raid escalates the conflict, and the 40-day war begins after the Bullet Farm Raid, already underway before Dementus attacks the Citadel directly.

The dust tasted like copper and old blood as the War Rig rumbled toward the Bullet Farm. Furiosa, then a young soldier in Joe's army, sat in the cab, her eyes scanning the horizon. The mission was routine: pick up weapons and ammunition from the Bullet Farmer, Joe's ally. But Dementus's Biker Horde had other plans. They struck without warning, a swarm of engines and violence that tore through the War Rig's crew. Furiosa fought, but she was the only one who survived. When she returned to the Citadel, Joe's war council debated how to respond to black smoke billowing from Gastown. Furiosa, familiar with Dementus's style of warfare from her time as his prisoner, recognized that the smoke was a ruse—Dementus wanted Joe to launch an all-out attack on Gastown so he could make a sneak attack on the undefended Citadel. Joe agreed with Furiosa, and the War Boys fooled Dementus into thinking they were headed for Gastown, allowing Joe to ambush Dementus on his way to the Citadel.
